Camp Hakata/Brady Air Base
aerial view. This picture was taken in the late 50s.

Special thanks to Denis R. Graham, former Brady-ite, who kindly let us use this material.

14th ASA Website
This is THE definitive Hakata/Brady website. Well worth digging into. Lots and lots of GREAT information.

Gannosu
This is the small town between Brady/Hakata and Fukuoka. It was off-limits when the Americans first came to this area. The Japanese had a fighter/seaplane base here during World War II.

Shikano-shima
This is the "island" at the end of the peninsula. There is a causeway between the mainland and the island, but it used to be an island ("Shima" means island in Japanese).

Saitozaki
The town between Hakata/Brady and the end of the peninsula. You can still catch a ferry to Fukuoka here.

Hakata/Brady Today
There is now a major theme park here, kind of the "Seaworld" of southern Japan. Very little remains of the old American installations.

A Closed Base
An interesting look at what was left in 1978, six years after Hakata/Brady closed. Wes Injerd took most of the pictures.
